About the role

We are seeking a passionate and driven Science Teacher to join Ark Evelyn Grace Academy. This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent classroom practitioner to deliver high-quality teaching while taking on additional responsibility for laboratory oversight
.

You will play a key role in delivering an ambitious, knowledge-rich curriculum that enables all students to achieve excellent outcomes, while contributing to a strong culture of high expectations and academic excellence.

Alongside teaching, you will ensure the effective day-to-day running of our science laboratories, supporting safe, engaging and well-resourced practical learning.

Key responsibilities Teaching and learning
  • Deliver engaging, well-structured and differentiated science lessons
  • Inspire students to achieve excellent progress and attainment
  • Use data effectively to inform teaching, intervention and feedback
  • Deliver high-quality practical science lessons safely and effectively
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and a positive learning environment
Tutor and school culture
  • Act as a form tutor
    , supporting students’ personal and academic development
  • Promote high expectations around attendance, punctuality, uniform and behaviour
  • Build strong relationships with students, families and colleagues
  • Contribute to a culture of achievement, respect and inclusion
Laboratory oversight
  • Oversee the daily organisation and preparation of science laboratories
  • Ensure safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals and equipment
  • Maintain equipment and monitor stock levels, ordering as required
  • Carry out and maintain risk assessments for practical activities
  • Promote best practice in laboratory safety across the department
  • Support colleagues in planning and delivering practical lessons
  • Contribute to enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs and science events
What we’re looking for
  • A qualified teacher with strong subject knowledge in science
  • A proven (or emerging) track record of excellent teaching and student progress
  • Strong behaviour management and classroom practice
  • A commitment to high expectations and inclusive education
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to remain resilient, reflective and solution-focused

Experience of working in a diverse, urban school environment is desirable.
