About the role
We are seeking a passionate and driven Science Teacher to join Ark Evelyn Grace Academy. This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent classroom practitioner to deliver high‑quality teaching while taking on additional responsibility for laboratory oversight. You will play a key role in delivering an ambitious, knowledge‑rich curriculum that enables all students to achieve excellent outcomes, while contributing to a strong culture of high expectations and academic excellence.
Responsibilities- Teaching and Learning
- Deliver engaging, well‑structured and differentiated science lessons.
- Inspire students to achieve excellent progress and attainment.
- Use data effectively to inform teaching, intervention and feedback.
- Deliver high‑quality practical science lessons safely and effectively.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and a positive learning environment.
- Tutor and School Culture
- Act as a form tutor, supporting students' personal and academic development.
- Promote high expectations around attendance, punctuality, uniform and behaviour.
- Build strong relationships with students, families and colleagues.
- Contribute to a culture of achievement, respect and inclusion.
- Laboratory Oversight
- Oversee the daily organisation and preparation of science laboratories.
- Ensure safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals and equipment.
- Maintain equipment and monitor stock levels, ordering as required.
- Carry out and maintain risk assessments for practical activities.
- Promote best practice in laboratory safety across the department.
- Support colleagues in planning and delivering practical lessons.
- Contribute to enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs and science events.
- A qualified teacher with strong subject knowledge in science.
- A proven (or emerging) track record of excellent teaching and student progress.
- Strong behaviour management and classroom practice.
- A commitment to high expectations and inclusive education.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to remain resilient, reflective and solution‑focused.
- Experience of working in a diverse, urban school environment is desirable.
- A supportive and collaborative Science department.
