Chepstow House School is an established 3‑form entry, co‑educational prep with a nursery attached, located in the Notting Hill Gate area. The school offers opportunities for staff development and career progression. We are looking to appoint a Full‑time Learning Support Assistant starting September 2026.
The Learning Support Assistant will work closely with the pupils, a class teacher and the SENDCo. Official working hours are 08:30 am to 03:30 pm, unless a staff meeting or after‑school function is scheduled. Morning break is 20 minutes and lunch break 50 minutes, taken at an agreed time with the class teacher. Please sign in and out at reception.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Ensure that the child has opportunities to develop their skills as an independent learner.
- Facilitate communication and continuity between school and outside agencies working with the child.
- Provide a safe and supportive environment for the supported child to learn both individually and in small groups, following the guide of the class teacher.
- Collaborate with the teacher to create an individual learning plan that provides specific, short‑term achievable targets for priority learning areas.
- Provide kinaesthetic and engaging activities at the child’s level to progress learning.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams and implement programmes provided by external therapists.
- Liaise with the teacher regarding the next day’s support needs, evaluating the child’s progress.
- Monitor progress and coordinate with the teacher to offer additional practice sessions or introduce new learning experiences as needed.
- Work alongside the teacher and SENDCo to ensure EHCP objectives are worked toward, monitored, and feed into the yearly EHCP review.
- Ensure all children are safe in the nursery/playground, never unsupervised, and that they do not leave the nursery/playground without prior permission.
- Ensure safety measures are met by closing exterior doors and gates at the end of the session and by escorting children to class in a quiet, organised manner.
- Contribute fully to extracurricular activities and the life of the nursery.
- Supervise the child when on the street, out of school or in an unfamiliar environment, maintaining awareness of the other children in the group.
- Enhanced DBS and prohibition order clearance.
- Experience with safeguarding, child protection, prevent duty and personal welfare training.
- Awareness of safeguarding policies.
- Previous LSA or teaching experience.
