Position Overview

GSL Education's London Branch is currently seeking a passionate and skilled Music Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school in Lewisham on a maternity cover basis. This part‑time role includes full teaching responsibilities such as planning and marking, and offers a fixed‑term opportunity within a supportive school environment.

Salary: £165 – £265 per day (depending on experience)

About the Role

As a Music Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality lessons to students across KS3 and KS4. This part‑time role includes full teaching responsibilities such as planning and marking, making it ideal for an experienced teacher looking for a rewarding fixed‑term opportunity within a supportive school environment.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging and well‑structured Music lessons in line with the curriculum.
  • Teach Music to students at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Prepare lesson materials, assess student work, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Monitor and track student progress, supporting their academic development.
  • Create an inclusive and positive classroom environment that fosters creativity.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, including extra‑curricular activities such as choir and school bands.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high teaching standards.
Requirements
  • Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience teaching Music at KS3 and KS4.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for music education.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Excellent organisational and classroom management skills.
  • Willingness to participate in extra‑curricular activities is highly desirable (e.g., choir, bands).
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
