The Role

As Support Assistant
- Centre for Autism, the post-holder will be an integral part of the Centre for Autism. The Support Assistant will work alongside the Head of the Centre for Autism and the wider inclusion team in school to undertake activities with either individuals or groups of children to ensure their safety and to facilitate their physical, emotional and educational development.

Support staff who are working directly with students and are without A-Levels, a degree or a relevant Level 3 for the role, will be required to enrol on the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship once appointed. We will support you to gain this qualification as part of our commitment to staff development and improving student outcomes.

About You

We are enthusiastic about the role that the Support Assistant will have in supporting and contributing to the development of students with behavioural issues. As a Support Assistant, you must be firm, caring, non‑judgemental and understanding. Demonstrate a flexible and creative approach in the delivery of your work and maintain positive, supportive relationships with individuals and groups of students.

All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. References will automatically be requested for all shortlisted applicants prior to interview.

The successful applicant will be required to be DBS and safeguarding checks prior to taking up post.
