Role Overview

We are seeking an outstanding and resilient Music Teacher to join our therapeutic education setting’s secondary site in Stratford. The role will be full‑time, long‑term, starting September 2026, and will involve delivering KS3 Music and the Pearson BTEC Performing Arts curriculum to students with a range of social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and assess KS3 Music and BTEC Performing Arts lessons adapted to meet individual student needs.
  • Use practical music‑making and play at least one instrument to engage learners.
  • Build strong, consistent, and positive relationships with students.
  • Implement strategies to support students with limited prior musical experience or disrupted education.
  • Collaborate with staff to maintain a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications
  • Qualified and experienced Music Teacher (QTS/QTLS or equivalent desirable).
  • Experience teaching KS3 Music and/or BTEC Performing Arts.
  • Experience working with students who have complex additional needs, including SEMH and challenging behaviour.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Patience, resilience, and a commitment to helping every learner succeed.
  • Proficiency in playing at least one musical instrument.
  • While QTS is desirable, it is not essential.
