This post is part-time and fixed-term for 2 Years, working 31.5 hours per week. The salary stated above is the pro-rata amount, the full-time salary would be £47,732 - £52,867 per annum (Incl. LWA).
The University of Westminster is seeking to appoint an innovative Lecturer in Chinese to join our dynamic School of Humanities on a 0.9 FTE fixed-term basis for two years

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a thriving Modern Languages provision at a university committed to global engagement, inclusive teaching, and student success. Based in the heart of London, you will join a vibrant academic community and help deliver an intellectually ambitious curriculum that combines Chinese language learning with cultural, historical, political, literary, and societal perspectives.
You will teach Chinese language across the full spectrum, from beginner to advanced level, alongside Chinese cultural studies content delivered in English. You will contribute to the design, delivery, and assessment of a range of written and oral assignments, developing engaging and research-informed teaching materials that foster linguistic confidence, intercultural understanding, and critical thinking.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can bring expertise in Translation Studies or Chinese History, alongside an interest in digital methods and innovative pedagogical approaches. You will demonstrate a commitment to inclusive teaching, student support, and enhancing the student experience, while contributing to curriculum development and wider academic life within the School.
You will hold a degree and postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline and have experience of successful teaching and scholarship in Chinese Studies, Chinese language, Translation Studies, or a related field. A teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain one) and HEA Fellowship, or willingness to work towards this, are expected.
