Launched in January 2025, the Global School of Sustainability (GSoS) is a major new interdisciplinary centre for sustainability research and impact at LSE, bringing together the wealth of social science expertise at LSE concerned with the critical questions of a sustainable future for all.
Digital Communications Officer Salary£36,513 to £41,565 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £44,468 pa inclusive of London allowance.
FundingOpen ended subject funding, funding is currently available for two years.
Role OverviewGSoS is seeking a reliable, organised and adaptable Digital Communications Officer to play a key role in maintaining and optimising the GSoS website, alongside newsletters and additional projects, developing content in line with best practice including SEO, accessibility and UX. Through effective collaboration, technical knowledge and communications best practice, the Digital Communications Officer will deliver engaging and joined‑up content and campaigns around news stories and announcements, articles, blog posts, newsletters and research publications.
The role will provide flexible support across the team and associated research centres and departments and will proactively contribute to the development of procedures, templates and ways of working within the role and as part of the wider GSoS team, while also playing a key role in the facilitation of the GSoS sustainability network across LSE.
- Maintain and optimise the GSoS website, ensuring content is up-to-date and aligned with brand guidelines.
- Produce newsletters, blog posts, articles and other communications outputs.
- Apply SEO, GEO, information architecture, UX and accessibility best practices to digital content.
- Manage accurate and up-to-date work records and metrics for information sharing and reporting.
- Coordinate and support cross‑platform communications and campaigns across the GSoS team and wider LSE.
- Experience using a content management system to manage a multi‑page microsite as part of a larger website.
- Understanding of SEO, GEO, information architecture, UX and accessibility best practices.
- Experience producing content that aligns with brand guidelines and house style.
- Knowledge of data protection and copyright legislation.
- Strong written English and proof‑reading skills, with the ability to translate complex research into engaging communication outputs.
- Ability to communicate requests, deadlines and professional advice effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Creative problem‑solving and initiative in day‑to‑day queries and problems.
