Lecturer in Broadcast Journalism
We are seeking a lecturer in broadcast journalism to join our teaching team and help educate the next generation of journalists at both postgraduate and undergraduate level. The successful candidate will have substantial experience working in fast-paced broadcast newsroom environments, with current multi-platform journalism skills and the ability to teach practical, deadline-driven news production.
The successful candidate will have significant industry experience in broadcast journalism and multi-platform expertise. They will also show a genuine commitment to teaching excellence, providing creative, engaging lessons for students; as well as paying attention to detail, and being organised, fair and transparent in their approach to assessment. The role will involve administration duties to help run the department.
This is a part-time role. The successful candidate will be appointed with an “Education” role profile, focusing on education and leadership/administration.
Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality teaching and assessment for postgraduate and undergraduate journalism students.
- Leverage industry experience and multi-platform expertise to enrich the curriculum.
- Provide creative, engaging, deadline-driven practical lessons in broadcast news production.
- Pay close attention to detail, maintain organization, and apply fair and transparent assessment practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues and assist with administrative duties to support department operations.
- Significant industry experience in broadcast journalism.
- Proven or demonstrated potential for effective teaching, with strong multi-platform journalism skills.
- Commitment to teaching excellence, creativity and student engagement.
- Organisational and assessment skills, fairness, transparency, and teamwork.
