Are you a high‑achieving English, Humanities, or Languages graduate looking to gain meaningful experience in education? Schools across London are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Literacy Tutors to support pupils with English and Literacy across Primary and Secondary settings. This role is ideal for graduates who are passionate about closing the attainment gap and helping students develop confidence in reading, writing, and communication.

As a Literacy Tutor, you will provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for students who require additional help with Literacy, including pupils with EAL (English as an Additional Language). Working closely with teachers and school staff, the successful Literacy Tutor will help pupils access learning, improve attainment, and build confidence within the classroom.

About this Literacy Tutor role:
  • Full‑time, long‑term Literacy Tutor position
  • Supporting students with English, reading, writing, and communication skills
  • Working with EAL students and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Opportunities across both Primary and Secondary schools
  • Excellent experience for aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, or speech and language professionals
  • Schools offering direct teacher training opportunities after one year
Schools are looking for Literacy Tutors who:
  • Hold a First-Class or 2:1 degree from a leading UK university
  • Studied English, Humanities, Modern Languages, or a related subject
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are passionate about supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged young people
  • Have previous tutoring, mentoring, teaching, or child‑centred experience
  • Hold a TEFL qualification or EAL experience (desirable but not essential)

This Literacy Tutor opportunity is perfect for graduates looking to make a genuine impact while gaining the skills and experience needed for a long‑term career in education.
