About This Role

Waterside Academy is part of the Community Schools Trust, serving a diverse community. We want to level the playing field for all of our students, providing a world‑class education. We value good grades as they lift life chances and focus on teacher impact on pupil outcomes through professional development, instructional coaching, and deliberate practice.

Our approach to teaching is evidence‑informed. We use explicit instruction rather than discovery learning, emphasize behaviour routines, and develop pro‑social skills like eye contact, attentive listening, and gratitude. When students fall behind, teachers run interventions outside of lessons, and we offer an extra after‑school session for all Year 11 students.

We invest in a supportive workforce: no retrospective book‑marking, no student reporting, a four‑and‑half‑day week, and opportunities for promotion within the school and Trust. The Community Schools Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and satisfactory references.

We are an inclusive employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Computer Science to students across all year groups.
  • Plan and deliver lessons using explicit instruction methods.
  • Develop and implement behaviour routines to maximise learning time.
  • Provide targeted interventions for students who fall behind.
  • Participate in professional development, peer coaching, and video review.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high classroom standards.
Qualifications and Experience

Qualified teacher with experience in Computer Science and a commitment to continuous professional improvement.
