About the role
Hillingdon Council is looking for a Targeted Lead Programme Delivery Worker – Sexual Health and Wellbeing to join our Youth Offer service. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people by leading targeted interventions that promote positive outcomes, build resilience and reduce risks associated with sexual health and relationships.
Working as part of the Hillingdon Youth Offer, you will deliver education, prevention and targeted support programmes, helping young people make informed choices and develop the skills and confidence needed to thrive. You will also provide leadership and support to Programme Delivery Workers, ensuring high-quality services are delivered across the borough.
This post sits within the Sexual Health and Wellbeing Programmes (KISS Team), which provides a range of education, prevention and therapeutic interventions for children and young people where there are concerns relating to sexual health and relationships.
As a Lead Programme Delivery Worker, you will work within a small team of specialist practitioners delivering targeted services. You will have the opportunity to develop and deliver education and prevention programmes, including workshops, assemblies and community events for children, young people, parents and professionals. You will also provide one‑to‑one psycho educational sessions to support young people in developing healthy relationships and improving their understanding of sexual health and wellbeing.
YouWill
- Lead the delivery of sexual health and relationships education, prevention and targeted intervention programmes.
- Work directly with children and young people through group work, outreach, detached and centre‑based provision.
- Identify and engage young people who would benefit from additional support and early intervention.
- Support referrals to specialist and statutory services where appropriate.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people, families and communities.
- Supervise and support Programme Delivery Workers to ensure effective service delivery.
- Work collaboratively with schools, health services, youth justice, community organisations and other partners.
- Support the planning, monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities.
- Ensure the voice of children and young people informs service design and delivery.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced practitioner who is passionate about supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes.
- Knowledge and/or experience of sexual health and healthy relationships work.
- Experience working directly with children and young people in youth work, education, community or targeted support settings.
- Experience supporting vulnerable or at‑risk young people, including those with complex or sensitive needs.
- Strong experience in community development and leadership.
- Experience managing, leading and supporting groups and individuals.
- Experience planning, delivering and evaluating both group and one‑to‑one interventions that are responsive to need.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding practices and confidence in managing risk, disclosures and appropriate referrals.
- Experience delivering engaging sessions to a range of audiences, including small groups, one‑to‑one work and larger settings such as assemblies.
- The ability to design and adapt interventions to meet diverse needs, including SEND and culturally diverse communities.
- Experience using data, feedback and outcomes to evaluate impact and improve services.
- Strong leadership, initiative and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with young people, families and professionals.
- Strong organisational, recording and reporting skills.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly build, local partnerships and referral pathways.
Experience delivering Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE), sexual health interventions or therapeutic work with young people would be highly desirable.
