GSL Education London Branch is seeking a dedicated and experienced female SEN TA to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary comprehensive school and sixth form for girls in Tower Hamlets. This long‑term opportunity is ideal for a compassionate and proactive SEN TA who is passionate about supporting students with special educational needs and helping them achieve their full potential.
As an SEN TA, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. The successful SEN TA will work closely with teachers and the SEN department to provide personalized support and create a positive learning environment.
Responsibilities- Provide one‑to‑one and small group support for students with SEN.
- Assist students with their academic, social and emotional development.
- Carry out general Teaching Assistant duties to support classroom learning.
- Provide intimate care when required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
- Support students with mobility and physical needs using safe Manual Handling techniques.
- Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement support plans.
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote student independence.
- Help create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Monitor and record student progress where necessary.
- Support students during lessons, break times and other school activities.
- Previous experience working as an SEN TA or in a similar support role within a school setting.
- Must hold a valid Manual Handling Certificate.
- Must be confident in carrying out general Teaching Assistant duties and providing intimate care when required.
- Experience supporting students with a range of special educational needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, caring and adaptable approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to promoting inclusion and student wellbeing.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safety recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
