Assistant Special Needs Coordinator

We are working with a welcoming primary school in Brent seeking to appoint an Assistant Special Needs Coordinator.
This exciting role will involve working closely with the SENCo to support the effective provision for pupils with SEND across the school, whilst delivering targeted interventions and supporting staff to meet individual pupil needs.
Responsibilities- Work alongside the SENCo to identify, assess, and monitor pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring appropriate provision is in place.
- Deliver high-quality targeted interventions and personalised support programmes for pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
- Support the implementation, review, and monitoring of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), support plans, and EHCP outcomes.
- Assist with tracking pupil progress, analysing assessment data, and contributing to reports for parents, governors, and external agencies.
- Liaise effectively with teachers, teaching assistants, parents, and external professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Support staff in implementing effective SEND strategies and inclusive classroom practices.
- Contribute to annual reviews, referrals, and SEND documentation, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment that supports pupils' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Stay informed of current SEND legislation, guidance, and best practice, supporting the SENCo in developing provision across the school.
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- NPQ not required.
- Have experience teaching or supporting pupils with SEND within a primary school setting.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of SEND practice, including EHCPs, interventions, and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, families, and external agencies.
- Be proactive, reflective, and committed to improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
- Have a genuine passion for inclusion and supporting vulnerable learners.
- Previous experience supporting SEND provision or working alongside a SENCo would be advantageous.
