Graduate SEMH, Autism & Behaviour Support Assistant – Primary School, Streatham
Location:
Streatham, South London
Job Type: Full‑time, term‑time only
Salary: £108.35 per day
Start Date:
September 2026 / Immediate start available
As a Graduate SEMH, Autism & Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them develop positive relationships, regulate their emotions and engage successfully in learning.
Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEMH needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and behavioural challenges.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils to support emotional wellbeing and engagement.
- Implement behaviour support strategies under the guidance of the SENCO and class teacher.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, social skills development and classroom participation.
- Encourage positive behaviour and help create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
- Assist with personalised interventions and nurture‑based activities.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
We are looking for graduates who:
- Hold a degree in Psychology, Education, Criminology, Sociology, Health & Social Care, or a related field.
- Have experience working with children or young people through schools, tutoring, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching or voluntary settings.
- Have a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs.
- Demonstrate resilience, patience, empathy and strong communication skills.
- Are considering a long‑term career within education, mental health or child development.
- Previous experience supporting SEMH, Autism or behavioural needs is advantageous but not essential.
