Our education recruitment agency is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth to recruit a dedicated Reception / Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within the school's specialist Autism Resource Base.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience supporting children with Autism (ASC/ASD) or other Special Educational Needs, or for graduates looking to build a career in education, psychology, speech and language therapy, or child development. Autism bases typically provide structured, specialist support while helping pupils access mainstream learning where appropriate.
The Role
Provide 1:1 and small group support for Reception and Year 1 pupils with Autism.
Support children's communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
Deliver sensory and play-based learning activities.
Implement visual timetables, PECS, Makaton or other communication strategies where appropriate.
Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and therapists to deliver personalised learning programmes.
Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour throughout the school day.
Support personal care where required.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children with Autism or SEN in a school, nursery or care setting.
Patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Understanding of EYFS and KS1 is desirable.
Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are advantageous but not essential.
Graduates in Psychology, Education or related subjects are encouraged to apply.
What the School Offers
A supportive and experienced SEN team.
Excellent training and ongoing professional development.
Modern Autism Resource Base with specialist facilities.
Opportunity to gain valuable experience in a highly rewarding setting.
Long-term role with the potential to become permanent.
Why Register with Us?
Competitive daily pay.
Dedicated education consultant providing ongoing support.
Access to free CPD and safeguarding training.
Opportunities across primary, SEN and specialist schools.
