Are you an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant looking to make a lasting impact on the lives of children with Special Educational Needs?
Our education recruitment agency is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth to recruit a Year 4/5 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within the school's specialist Autism Resource Base. This is an excellent opportunity to work with Key Stage 2 pupils, helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally in a structured and supportive environment.
The Role
Provide 1:1 and small group support for Year 4 and Year 5 pupils with Autism (ASC).
Support pupils in accessing a personalised curriculum tailored to their individual needs and EHCP targets.
Promote communication, emotional regulation, social interaction and independence.
Implement behaviour support strategies, visual timetables and sensory approaches where appropriate.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to deliver high-quality support.
Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils build confidence both in the Autism Base and during inclusion opportunities within mainstream classes.
Support personal care where required.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience supporting children with Autism or other Special Educational Needs in a school or similar setting.
Calm, patient and resilient with a nurturing approach.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Understanding of Key Stage 2 curriculum is desirable.
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential.
Graduates in Psychology, Education or related fields are encouraged to apply.
