Piano/Keyboard – 5-6 hours per term;
Violin/Viola/Cello – 2 hours per term;
Guitar – Group and individual lessons across whole school, 2 full days per term;
Woodwind – Group lessons, 1 hour per term;
Brass – currently 1 hour per term, with future expansion.

We are seeking inspiring, enthusiastic, and highly skilled Peripatetic Instrumental Teachers (Guitar, Violin, Piano/Keyboard, and Woodwind/Brass) to support our thriving Music Department. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality 1:1 and small group instrumental lessons to students of varying ages and abilities from 6 to 18. Our pupils are happy, confident young people, and as an experienced, caring and inclusive school, it’s our responsibility to see them excel.

We’re seeking someone with strong performance skills, teaching experience, and a passion for nurturing young musicians. The successful candidate will foster a love of music, develop students’ technical proficiencies, and prepare them for graded examinations (ABRSM, Trinity, or RSL) and school performances, including GCSE assessments.

• Deliver dynamic and engaging individual and small group instrumental lessons.
• Plan tailored lessons that cater to different learning styles and skill levels.
• Prepare students for graded music exams, GCSE performances, and school showcases.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and reports.

• A degree or diploma in Music (or equivalent performance/teaching qualification).
• Proven experience teaching your specialist instrument(s) to children and young people.
• Strong subject knowledge and exceptional technical performance skills.
• Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures in an educational setting (an enhanced DBS check will be required).
• A patient, encouraging, and highly organised approach to teaching.

Sessions are normally 30 minutes long and usually on a one-to-one basis; the hours worked will depend on the number of pupils that require tutoring each term.

The successful candidate will be responsible for invoicing parents directly. All candidates will be required to provide a minimum of two referees and UTRN or proof of a limited company.

Teachers who are able to teach multiple instruments should make a note of their ability level in each instrument when applying.
