The CertHE Dance Programme seeks to appoint suitably qualified candidates to hourly paid, part-time permanent teaching positions with effect from September 2026 who can deliver tuition in one or more of the following areas (indicating clearly your area(s) of expertise):

Areas of Teaching
  • Contemporary Dance
  • Jazz Dance

  • Hip-Hop Dance
  • Commercial Dance
  • Ballet
  • Conditioning for Dancers
  • Acting Through Dance
  • Dancer’s Voice (vocal use in dance)

Due to timetable limitations, we are particularly seeking candidates who are able to teach at least two styles from the listed areas. While some roles may focus on teaching a single specialist area, the ability to deliver across multiple styles is highly valued. Please clearly state the style(s) you are able to teach within your application.

The successful candidates will represent an important addition to the newly developed CertHE Dance qualification and will join us at a time as we introduce the CertHE Dance programme to our portfolio of programmes.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver hourly paid, part-time teaching sessions in identified dance styles.
  • Develop lesson plans and curriculum aligned with the CertHE Dance qualification.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance program delivery.
  • Participate in masterclasses and professional development activities.
  • Maintain professional IT skills for administrative and teaching tasks.
Qualifications

Successful candidates will be widely recognised and highly respected industry specialists with significant experience and a distinguished record in teaching/delivering masterclasses or other relevant learning opportunities within the conservatoire sector or the higher education sector. They will be able to teach to an exceptional level of technical competency and provide effective support for individual student needs.

Successful candidates will have proven higher education teaching experience, strong or emerging research interests in dance, outstanding communication and organisational abilities, excellent IT skills, and the capability to deal with a busy and varied workload within a highly creative environment.
