Salary: Contact hours are paid at a multiplier of 2.5 basic hours for group teaching to include preparation time spent in the classroom delivering teaching, class preparation; course administration; ('the multiplier') totalling £56.96/ £67.49 (basic hourly rate starts from £23.46 per hour, inclusive of London Allowance). Marking is paid at the basic hourly rate using plain time hours (from £23.46) and is part of the teaching contract.

Hours: Hourly paid – dependent on hours worked

About the Department

The School of Law at SOAS is a world‑leading, research‑led department, ranked 1st in the UK 2021 Research Excellence Framework for Research Outputs and 6th Overall. The School of Law is the only one of its kind in the UK – dedicated to legal systems and legal challenges of the developing world, with complementary strengths in human rights, international law and institutions, environmental law and international trade and commerce.

We have unrivalled expertise and produce world‑leading research in comparative law (China, Africa, South/South‑East Asia, the Middle East), complemented by specialists in international and transnational law, human rights, transnational commercial law, environmental law and socio‑legal method. The intellectual community at SOAS is vibrant and globally oriented. The School of Law is home to a range of specialist law centres, which put on events regularly throughout the year.

Additionally, the student Law Society is active and hosts career and social events. All of our students are taught by academic thought leaders, practising lawyers, and other experts from across a range of disciplines.

Role

SOAS School of Law is creating a pool of experienced teachers who are interested in joining us as and when a suitable teaching opportunity becomes available. We are looking for teachers with strong communication skills who are confident in teaching native and non‑native English speakers from around the globe.

We are collecting speculative applications for teachers who can provide teaching online or on campus for non‑degree, daytime and/or evening, language courses.
