Joining a well‑established Science department, the successful Science Academic Mentor will support pupils across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, helping to raise attainment through targeted interventions, small‑group tuition and in‑class support. The school has invested heavily in STEM education, offering modern laboratory facilities, a broad curriculum and enrichment opportunities that encourage pupils to pursue Science beyond the classroom.
Full Academic Year | £500–£550 per weekWhat the school can offer a Science Academic Mentor:
- Work alongside an experienced Science department recognised for strong GCSE outcomes
- Deliver targeted interventions to help pupils bridge learning gaps and prepare for examinations
- Observe outstanding teaching practice across Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons
- Weekly guidance from experienced teachers, Heads of Department and senior leaders
- Develop classroom management, behaviour strategies and subject‑specific teaching techniques
- Excellent preparation for salaried teacher training or PGCE routes

Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils during Science lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Delivering small‑group intervention sessions to raise attainment
- Working 1:1 with students requiring additional academic support
- Preparing practical resources alongside teaching staff where required
- Encouraging pupil confidence, curiosity and engagement within STEM subjects
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers
The successful Science Academic Mentor will:
- Hold A-Levels (or equivalent qualifications) and a BA degree in a Science-related subject
- Be academically strong with excellent communication skills
- Be enthusiastic about working with young people
- Have aspirations of becoming a Science Teacher
- Demonstrate initiative, professionalism and resilience
