** The role
** Northeastern University London wishes to appoint an Assistant Professor (Teaching & Scholarship) in Transport Planning. The appointee will design and deliver modules on NU London’s BSc (Hons) Transport Planning programme. This programme is delivered to Degree Apprentices and is primarily delivered asynchronously and online. The panel are seeking to appoint a candidate with expertise in transport policy, regulation, and appraisal, with experience in governance frameworks, procurement processes, and stakeholder engagement.
The appointee will also have the opportunity to provide general service to the University across faculties and the Centre for Apprenticeships. In the first instance, the successful candidate will be expected to lead on the design and delivery of the following courses:
* Investment and Procurement
* UK Transport Policy and Governance
* Policy and Governance Fundamentals
* Control, Regulation, and Competitions We particularly encourage applications from those with an interest in innovative teaching, learning and assessment, UK apprenticeships, and executive education; those with experience of supporting a wide variety of students; and those belonging to groups underrepresented in UK higher education. ** Person Specification Criteria
** Qualifications* PhD completed, or near completion, or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant area
* FHEA status, or equivalent, achieved or expected
General Criteria
* Demonstrates, through evidence, the ability to teach transport policy and planning to a high standard.
* Demonstrates, through evidence, the ability to teach appraisal, regulation, and stakeholder engagement in the context of transport governance to a high standard.
* Willingness and capacity to undertake continuous professional development in relation to institutionally strategic themes, including but not limited to artificial intelligence, technology, data, sustainability, and ethics.
* Flexibility and capacity to teach across a wide range of courses.
* Teaching competency in transport planning to at least Level 6
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills, both face-to-face and online.
* Demonstrates, through evidence, excellent ability to deliver courses on degree apprenticeship programmes.
