Overview
Youth Mentor for SEMH School, Hackney location. ASAP start. Experience and commitment to supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs are essential.
Responsibilities- Support students on a 1:1 and small-group basis, building trusting relationships and encouraging engagement in learning.
- Assist in the development and reinforcement of positive behaviour and coping strategies.
- Work in partnership with teaching staff and external professionals to implement behaviour support plans.
- Help de-escalate challenging situations and contribute to a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong communication skills to support young people in overcoming barriers and achieving positive outcomes.
- At least 1 year of experience working with young people.
- Team Teach is desirable but not essential for the Youth Mentor role.
This specialist SEMH provision supports children and young people from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 5, all of whom have social, emotional, and mental health needs. The setting offers both boys and girls access to a broad and engaging curriculum, including vocational subjects, within a safe, supportive, and structured environment. The school is committed to promoting respect, resilience, and positive relationships, helping students build confidence and develop into independent, purposeful individuals.
The staff team focuses on equipping learners with social, emotional, and practical skills to succeed in their next stage of education, training, or employment.
