About

the role

The Strategic Alliance Director (SAD) will work in support of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

At a strategic level, the SAD will be charged with the execution of the mid to long term development plan with regards to industrial engagement and translational activities in order to achieve and sustain business growth and real-world impact. The SAD is responsible for organising regular planning and review meetings with both industrial contacts and with appropriate members of staff, as well as promoting excellence in industrial relations, which includes both research projects in collaboration with industry and embedding industrial expertise in teaching activities.

The SAD will contribute to creating a high profile of the department in national, EU and international arenas via demonstration of the departmental positive impact across sectors.

This is a hybrid role with an expectation of minimum 60% in person attendance on our Bloomsbury campus.

The role is available until 31st July 2029 in the first instance. Further funding to support the post may be available.

About you

The successful candidate will possess a level of knowledge generally acquired by a postgraduate academic degree in a discipline relating to electronic and electrical engineering, computer science or physics. They should have strategic leadership experience and experience of working in industry and/or interdisciplinary academic units. They will have experience of developing proposals and winning new partnerships and/or business and experience of developing and successfully deploying strategic operating plans.

Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise with staff at a range of levels internal and external to the organisation. They will demonstrate effective negotiation skills to work with and through others. The ability to work effectively under pressure, managing projects, prioritising tasks effectively and having excellent time management skills are essential.
