The Role

We are looking for an Academy Education Officer to join us at AWFC and lead, design, and quality assure, the Academy Education Programme across the PGA and club funded Academy. In this vital role, you will ensuring all players receive personalised, bespoke academic support. You'll be working closely with the Player Care Lead and in collaboration with players, parents/guardians and education providers.

You will be entrusted to act as the PGA’s strategic lead and primary point of contact for all education providers and partners to ensuring clear communication pathways and a robust progress monitoring system.

Your day-to-day
  • Oversee our education strategy - you will lead the education provision for the AWFC Academy PGA and club funded Academy, including the effective delivery of the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE), and you'll drive the development of a comprehensive long-term education strategy including continual monitoring and review.
  • Provide academic support - you'll ensure players receive appropriate guidance and assistance to meet their educational commitments.
  • Create individual learner plans - you will develop and maintain individual learner plans for all players within the PGA, setting clear targets and reviewing progress with relevant stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders - you'll establish and uphold effective working relationships with schools, colleges, and NGB education staff to support players in balancing academic and football responsibilities.
  • Monitor student progress - you will monitor, record, and review student progress, academic performance, and behaviour on a regular basis, and you will identify and implement early intervention strategies to support students where additional input is required.
  • Partner with our Safeguarding team - you'll collaborate with colleagues in our Safeguarding team to contribute to the delivery of the safeguarding strategy for the PGA and club-funded Academy, ensuring compliance with child protection policies and prioritising player welfare at all times.
  • Be on hand to offer valuable guidance - you will conduct regular check‑ins with players and their parents/guardians to provide support, updates and advice.
  • Champion a forward‑thinking approach - you'll support players transitioning out of the programme by assisting with future planning, including further education, employment opportunities, or scholarship pathways.
What we are looking for
  • Background in education - you come with a history of working with and mentoring young people in an education setting, and you have a good understanding of school systems, secondary and further education qualifications and courses.
  • Credible expertise - you're educated to degree level and you have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status.
  • Knowledge of the Women's game - you know the standard of players required at AWFC and you have an understanding of the overall Women's Talent Pathway in England.
  • Safeguarding experience - you are well aware of child protection issues, and you hold current certificates in FA Safeguarding Children and Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF).
