The Opportunity

Wimbledon College of Arts is seeking a dynamic and experienced academic to lead the delivery and development of our new Level 5 Diploma in Storytelling. This is an exciting opportunity to shape an innovative course that brings together students from across UAL, helping them to develop the creative, critical and professional storytelling skills needed to engage audiences.

Responsibilities

As Senior Lecturer and Course Leader, you will provide academic leadership for the Diploma in Storytelling, taking responsibility for the design, delivery and ongoing development of the curriculum while ensuring an outstanding student experience. Working closely with the Programme Director, you will oversee all aspects of teaching, learning, assessment and course management, maintain high academic standards and ensure effective use of resources.

The course welcomes second‑year students from across UAL, including those studying art, design, fashion, communication and performance. You will create an inclusive and collaborative learning environment that enables students to apply storytelling practices within their own creative disciplines while supporting their transition into and out of the programme. You will also contribute to the wider storytelling culture across the University by working in partnership with the AKO Storytelling Institute to extend the course's impact beyond the institution.

In addition, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of the course, including all areas of teaching, learning, assessment and resource allocation. You will contribute to the wider academic mission of the programme and the institution, participating in committees and ensuring that the course maintains a clear identity, remains current in its subject focus and delivers a high‑quality learning experience for our students.

Your

Profile

You will have significant experience of teaching and assessing students in higher education, together with previous experience of curriculum leadership, management and delivery. You will bring a strong background in narrative, communications or a performance‑based subject area, supported by an undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience, and will be confident leading interdisciplinary learning across a diverse student community. You will demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate colleagues, manage projects effectively and build productive relationships with external partners.

Above all, you will be passionate about developing students' creative potential and preparing them for successful careers through the power of storytelling.
