Overview
Pastoral Student Manager – Fixed-Term Maternity Cover / Full-time (Term Time plus Inset Days) – secondary school leadership level. This senior pastoral role requires an accomplished professional with a proven track record of leading pastoral provision, managing complex student needs, and driving improvements in behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and student wellbeing. The role also includes responsibilities as Whole School Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), working with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to maintain high safeguarding standards across the school.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding communicator and leader, capable of building strong relationships with students, families, staff and external agencies while maintaining high expectations and ensuring that every student can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
ResponsibilitiesLead pastoral provision and support for students with complex needs, contributing to improvements in behaviour, attendance and wellbeing.
Undertake responsibilities of Whole School Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and collaborate with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure safeguarding best practice.
Communicate effectively with students, families, staff and external agencies; foster strong relationships and a positive school culture.
Monitor and respond to pastoral concerns in a timely and professional manner; support safeguarding and welfare of all students.
Contribute to school leadership and ongoing development of pastoral strategies and provision.
Experience working with young people in a pastoral, mentoring or safeguarding capacity.
Demonstrates empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills.
Ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism and care.
High level of organisation and commitment to improving outcomes for all students.
