Job Description

The Chartered College of Teaching is recruiting a Teacher Development Specialist to support teacher and leadership development in the context of educational technology (EdTech) implementation. This is a fixed‑term position focused on supporting a key strand of work, from now until the end of October 2026.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the key deliverable of strengthening expertise through collaboration related to EdTech, drawing on literature, research and theory to generate actionable insights.
  • Gather and analyse insights from teachers, school leaders, policy makers and sector experts to identify effective practices and potential barriers or levers affecting their effectiveness.
  • Disseminate findings through high‑level summaries and reports to inform future work and recommendations.
  • Participate in project meetings, synthesize findings with the core project team, develop recommendations and support wider project activities.
  • Engage in CPD, learning activities and training to maintain and develop knowledge and skills.
  • Arrange and participate in meetings and perform other required activities to fulfil the purpose and requirements of the role.
  • Apply expertise to support the College’s wider teacher development work as appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience Essential
  • Educated to at least degree standard, with QTS or higher degree desirable.
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of effective professional development methodologies.
  • Critical understanding of research and evidence relating to teacher professional development and implementation.
  • Experience of teaching in schools in the UK or internationally.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience applying research and insights to inform decision‑making, strategy or school/trust development.
Desirable
  • Ability to produce content (written reports and research summaries) for teachers, school leaders and policymakers.
  • Experience carrying out qualitative research or stakeholder research (e.g., interviews, focus groups, stakeholder workshops).
  • Good understanding of the English school system and interest in Educational Technology (EdTech) and evidence‑informed technology adoption.
  • Experience designing or delivering teacher professional development.
