About the role
City St George’s University of London is a leading institution in health, business, policy, law, creativity, communications, science and technology. The Philanthropy and Alumni & Supporter Relations Office (PASR) supports the University’s Strategic Plan by delivering philanthropic income and other financial and non‑financial support from alumni, friends, companies, trusts and foundations, raising money for university‑wide initiatives that support student help, world‑class research and the development of the University’s estate.
The Alumni & Supporter Relations Officer (Bayes) plans and delivers programmes and services for Bayes alumni, including UK and international events and volunteer management, providing value to and managing contributions from stakeholders in support of Bayes Business School and City St George’s strategic priorities. The officer manages a portfolio of alumni volunteers and groups, ensuring successful delivery of the alumni volunteer programme, including recruitment, training, development, engagement, stewardship and retention.
The role takes a joined‑up, strategic approach to planning, delivery and evaluation of events and volunteering programmes to enhance alumni engagement and opportunities for the Bayes and City St George’s global alumni community.
The postholder will have proven experience in event, volunteer and stakeholder engagement management, excellent communication skills, and strong organisational and time‑management skills. They must be able to work under pressure and meet demanding timelines.
Person Specification- Proven experience in planning, delivering and monitoring stakeholder engagement events (UK and international; in‑person and virtual).
- Strong client‑facing and delivery‑focused customer service skills.
- Experience in volunteer management and managing multi‑disciplined relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience working in higher education, advancement, business school, charity or fundraising sectors.
- Proven experience using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Strategic thinking, problem‑identifying and solution‑recommending; creative and effective improvement skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication, building effective working relationships with diverse audiences.
- Ability to work closely with colleagues as part of a team.
- Exceptional organisational and planning skills, including financial planning and monitoring, data interpretation and project completion.
- Multi‑tasking, effective pressure management, prioritisation and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Self‑motivation, delivery‑focused, proactive and open to new ideas and creative problem‑solving.
- Independent work and project ownership.
