Bridging the Gap:
Impact Through Intervention

We are seeking Learning Support Assistants to work across Primary and Secondary settings. Unlike a general assistant, your role is focused on learning outcomes: identifying where a student is struggling and providing the specific scaffolding, tools, and encouragement they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Targeted Academic Support: lead small group interventions in literacy and numeracy, helping students catch up or keep pace with the curriculum.
  • The How: to Specialist – teach students how to learn, focusing on organisation, memory techniques, and confidence building.
  • Career Fast Track – this is the gold standard of experience for those looking for a PGCE, School Direct, or Masters in Education.
  • Differentiating Resources: take a standard lesson and repack it by creating simplified worksheets, visual aids, or word banks to suit the specific needs of the learners you support.
  • Small Group Leadership: take charge of breakout sessions, guiding 3‑5 students through a specific task to ensure they aren’t overwhelmed by the pace of the main classroom.
  • Promoting Independence: use the scaffold and fade technique – provide heavy support initially and gradually step back as the student gains confidence to work alone.
  • Progress Tracking: maintain clear records of student breakthroughs and hurdles, providing vital data to the Class Teacher and SENCO to help shape future lessons.
Essential Requirements
  • Academically Confident: strong GCSEs, especially in English and Maths, and the ability to explain academic concepts clearly and creatively.
  • Proactive: do not wait to be told what to do; spot a struggling student and offer support before they lose focus.
  • Relevant

    Experience:

experience helping others learn, whether through university tutoring, coaching, or previous school work.
  • Committed: hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or be willing to obtain one) and be fully dedicated to safeguarding.
