Learning Support Assistant – Havering, London

Are you a passionate and experienced learning support assistant seeking a new role for September 2026? Do you have experience working with a range of special needs in primary schools? Are you available full time and can commit to a full academic year? If yes, Academics have the Learning Support Assistant role for you!

A supportive and welcoming primary school located in Havering, London is seeking 2 Learning Support Assistants to join them as soon as possible. The role will involve working 1:1 with an allocated child to assist with everyday learning. It is a full-time position from September 2026 to July 2027, with opportunities for permanent contracts.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the class teacher, Phase Lead and SENCO.

• Provide 1:1 support to an allocated child with a range of abilities, including those with an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

• Support teaching and learning, pastoral care, and a variety of learning activities.

• Contribute to the Learning & Teaching team, including planning and development meetings each week.

• Provide class cover when needed and manage multiple classrooms as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience in a school setting working with primary age group children.

• Experience working with a range of special educational needs.

• Good literacy and numeracy skills, professional approach, good spoken and written English.

• Able to use initiative, flexible in approach, and committed to making a real difference to young people.
