About the role

Would you like to bring your extensive knowledge of core chemical engineering subjects to a world-leading chemical engineering department? We are seeking up to two teaching fellows in chemical engineering, who will contribute to the education and development of our undergraduate and postgraduate students.

What you would be doing

The Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London () is a world leader in research, education, and innovation. From our advanced teaching laboratories and pilot plant () to our vibrant research centres and industry links, we offer unique opportunities for students and researchers alike. Our alumni go on to make a difference across sectors and nations — proving that what starts in our department reaches far beyond it.

As a teaching fellow, you will contribute directly to chemical engineering teaching, as part of a team currently consisting of 7 teaching fellows and 46 academic staff, educating our cohort of ~600 undergraduate and ~150 taught postgraduate students. These duties will involve direct contributions to lectures, tutorials, practical, coursework organisation, demonstration, assessment, and feedback, as and when appropriate.

What we are looking for

We are seeking exceptional chemical engineering educators, who:

  • Have an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering
  • Have a PhD in a related discipline, or equivalent industrial experience
  • Are capable, confident and articulate communicators and teachers
  • Can demonstrate a track record of teaching in chemical engineering in higher education, or delivering training in an industrial setting, at the highest standards
  • Have a broad and deep knowledge of core chemical engineering subjects
  • Can demonstrate an ability to take initiative, prioritise efficiently and work autonomously

We encourage applicants with expertise in one or more of the following topics: process safety, reaction engineering, chemical engineering design, nuclear chemical engineering or multiphase transport processes, but this is not an essential requirement.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week).

This role is for a fixed-term contract for 24 months.
