About the role

We are seeking a Lecturer (teaching) in Economics to contribute to our teaching for a one-year fixed-term period to cover maternity leave. Relevant fields include economics of education, labour economics or applied econometrics. We are looking for applicants with the ability to teach advanced quantitative methods, with proficiency in R.

The successful candidate will teach and lead modules on our BSc Social Sciences, BSc Social Sciences with Data Science or MSc Social Research Methods with Data Science. For example, modules may include; introduction to economics, the economics of education, the economics of public policy and R coding.

We are particularly interested in applicants with a commitment to open and collaborative scholarship, innovative pedagogy, and inclusive curriculum design. Appointees will also be expected to contribute actively to the intellectual and collegial life of the department. The post is available from 01 October 2026 to 30 September 2027.

About you

You’ll have a PhD in economics or quantitative social science where advanced quantitative methods have been applied, completed, or close to completed by the time of appointment. Experience of teaching with some experience in innovative curriculum design at undergraduate/postgraduate level. Ability to teach a range of quantitative methods using R.
