Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable experience working with children before pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy, Teaching or Child Mental Health?

Academics is working with a wide range of welcoming and supportive primary schools across South East London, recruiting enthusiastic Psychology graduates for temporary, long-term and permanent Teaching Assistant opportunities.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical experience supporting children in the classroom while making a genuine difference to their education and wellbeing.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers and SEND professionals to support pupils across All Key-Stages. Responsibilities may include:

Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small intervention groups.

Working with children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language needs and SEMH.

Delivering targeted literacy and numeracy interventions.

Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

Helping pupils build confidence, independence and resilience.

Assisting teachers with classroom activities and learning resources.

We Are Looking For

A degree in Psychology (2:2 or above preferred).

A genuine interest in child development and education.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Patience, empathy and a positive attitude.

The ability to build strong relationships with children and staff.

Previous experience working with children is beneficial but not essential. This could include tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, volunteering or childcare.
