Post-doctoral Fellow (Political Psychology/Political Science/ Social-Affective Neuroscience) at the Centre for the Politics of Feelings

Full-time, fixed term role until 31st August 2027.

The Centre for the Politics of Feelings  a partnership between the School of Advanced Study, University of London and Royal Holloway, University of London, is hiring one Post-doctoral Fellow in Political Psychology, Science and/or Social-Affective Neuroscience. The Fellow will develop an innovative and interdisciplinary research project that is aligned with the Centre’s research aims.

The Centre for the Politics of Feelings addresses, from a multi-disciplinary perspective, how emotions and their underlying neurophysiological mechanisms shape political attitudes and behaviour, as well as how politics shapes and exploits our affect and emotions.

This Fellowship is addressed to early career researchers with a PhD in psychology, political science or social-affective neuroscience completed or near completion prior to commencement of employment. The fellowship is available from September 1st 2026 or soon thereafter and it ends on 31st August 2027.

For this fellowship, we are particularly interested in applicants with substantive experience in conducting quantitative research in political psychology. The successful applicant will be supported in conducting quantitative research (e.g. multinational surveys, online experiments, analysis of existing data sets, computational textual analysis, etc) in this area of research. Expertise in the broader research areas of emotions and politics and in at least one of the aforementioned methods are essential.
