UK Artist Residency: 100+ Hours Access to Uni Facilities

AA2A offers practising artists the opportunity to access specialist facilities, workshops and equipment at universities and colleges across England. Residencies support artists to develop their creative practice, experiment with new approaches and connect with academic communities. The 2026/27 programme includes opportunities at 18 partner institutions, with access available across a wide range of creative disciplines.

Who can apply: Practising artists who have been out of formal education for at least one year and are looking to develop their creative practice through access to specialist facilities, equipment and support within a university or college environment. Applicants must be based in the UK and not currently studying full-time. The scheme is open to artists working across a wide range of disciplines and creative practices.

What you get: Selected artists receive a residency at one of our partner universities or colleges, providing access to specialist workshops, equipment, facilities and creative communities. Each artist is offered a minimum of 100 hours of access during the academic year, alongside opportunities to connect with staff, students and other artists. Residencies run during the 2026/27 academic year and provide a supportive environment for artists to develop their practice, experiment with new approaches, and build connections within an educational setting.

Some hosts may also offer additional opportunities such as artist talks, workshops, exhibitions or engagement with students.
