Are you a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are seeking an enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school where every child is given the opportunity to thrive.
The RoleAs an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional needs, helping them regulate emotions, build confidence, and engage positively with learning.
This rewarding role requires patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may present challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour, and social interactions
- Assist the class teacher in delivering structured and engaging lessons
- Implement behaviour support strategies and individual plans
- Promote a safe, calm, and supportive learning environment
- Monitor pupil progress and report on development
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
- Experience working with children with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour
- A calm, patient, and resilient personality
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to stay composed in high-pressure situations
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils
- Team player with a proactive and positive attitude
- Team Teach or behaviour management training
- Background in education, care, youth work, or psychology
- DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
- Relevant experience in a school or similar setting
