Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant Required

Teaching Consultancy is working with a supportive and inclusive school in Tower Hamlets to recruit an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will be working with pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), Physical Disabilities, Complex Needs, PMLD, MLD and communication difficulties.

As this role involves supporting pupils with mobility and personal care, a valid Manual Handling certificate is essential.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A valid Manual Handling certificate (essential)
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a UK school
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEND, PMLD, ASC or Physical Disabilities
  • Experience with personal care and mobility support is desirable
  • A calm, caring and patient approach
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • The right to work in the UK
Your Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Assist pupils with personal care, mobility and physical support where required.
  • Use safe Manual Handling techniques in line with school policies.
  • Support pupils with Autism, Complex Needs and Physical Disabilities throughout the school day.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
  • Work alongside teachers, therapists and other professionals to provide the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Help maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
