Axcis Education is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and forward-thinking primary school in Sutton, South London. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified HLTA looking to take the next step in their education career within a supportive school known for its positive culture and strong leadership team.

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and senior leaders to support the delivery of high-quality learning opportunities for Year 6 pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, preparation, and delivery of engaging Year 6 lessons.
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions to raise attainment and support pupil progress.
  • Support pupils with SEND, ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and additional learning needs.
  • Assist with classroom management and promote positive behaviour strategies.
  • Cover lessons when required and confidently lead learning activities.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds a recognised HLTA qualification.
  • Has previous experience supporting pupils within a primary school setting.
  • Has experience working with children with SEND, ASD, ADHD, and SEMH needs.
  • Is confident leading lessons and managing classroom behaviour effectively.
  • Has excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrates a proactive, flexible, and enthusiastic approach to education.
