Location:
Barnet, London, UK Salary: £95-£130 per day Salary is dependent on experience, qualifications and the level of responsibility required. The higher end of the range is intended for experienced Cover Supervisors, qualified instructors or candidates with substantial secondary classroom experience.
Teach Now is working with a well-organised secondary school in Barnet to recruit a confident Cover Supervisor for the new academic year. As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during short-term teacher absence, deliver pre-prepared work and ensure students remain focused and productive. You will not usually be expected to plan lessons, but you must be comfortable managing classes across KS3 and KS4.
This position is ideal for an experienced Cover Supervisor, graduate, sports coach, youth worker or aspiring teacher with strong classroom-management skills.
- Supervising classes using work set by the absent teacher
- Explaining tasks and responding to routine student questions
- Maintaining a calm and purposeful learning environment
- Applying the school's behaviour policy consistently
- Recording attendance, behaviour and completed work
- Supporting students with additional learning needs
- Providing feedback to teaching and pastoral staff
- Assisting with wider school duties when cover is not required
- Applicants must have:
Recent experience working with secondary-aged students - Strong behaviour-management and communication skills
- Confidence supervising full classes independently
- Good literacy, numeracy and organisational skills
- A professional and reliable approach
- A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- The right to work in the UK
- A degree or relevant classroom qualification is desirable but not essential for candidates with strong experience.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification.
