Job Description Interim Additional Learning Support Manager

Location: London Contract: Interim – 10 Weeks Initially (with potential extension)
Start Date: 17th August Salary: Competitive Daily Rate

We are seeking an experienced Interim Additional Learning Support Manager to join a leading Further Education college in London on an initial
10-week contract, with the possibility of extension.

This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable SEND and ALS professional to provide operational leadership during a busy period, ensuring high-quality support for learners and compliance with statutory requirements.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Additional Learning Support, you will:

  • Lead and manage the delivery of Additional Learning Support across the college.
  • Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP requirements, and Local Authority processes.
  • Oversee the deployment, timetabling, and management of Learning Support staff.
  • Monitor learner attendance, progress, achievement, retention, and progression.
  • Work closely with curriculum teams to ensure learner needs are effectively supported.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and support staff development.
  • Ensure annual reviews and support plans are completed to a high standard.
  • Manage relationships with Local Authorities, parents/carers, and external agencies.
  • Support the achievement of performance, funding, and budgetary targets.
About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • Proven experience managing Additional Learning Support or SEND provision within Further Education.
  • Strong understanding of EHCPs, SEND legislation, and funding methodologies.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • A track record of improving learner outcomes and service quality.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A relevant degree and/or professional qualification (desirable).
