Location: Greater London

Hours of Work: 14 hours per week, Wednesday and Thursday, with occasional evenings and weekends

Are you looking to make a meaningful impact and play a key role in the development and delivery of high‑quality BSL provision?

We are seeking a BSL Tutor Coordinator to join our prestigious Centre for Deaf Education at City Lit. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape the BSL provision at Level 3 and 6, including level 3 in BSL for Employer Engagement and BSL teacher training development, within an organisation that is passionate about Deaf education and outstanding adult learning.

The post holder will deliver Level 3 and 6 BSL teaching, recruit, supervise, and support part‑time tutors and associated staff as appropriate , and ensure the smooth day‑to‑day running of provision through effective administrative and quality assurance processes. The role also plays a vital part in advocating for and promoting BSL courses, strengthening engagement with learners, employers, and the wider Deaf community.

About the applicant
  • Proven fluency and subject expertise in BSL to Signature’s Level 6 or equivalent.
  • A recognised teaching qualification, such as a Diploma to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) or equivalent (e.g. a stage 3 teaching qualification or PGCE), preferably for teaching adults .
  • Up‑to‑date subject knowledge, with enthusiasm and sustained interest in the field of BSL and Deaf studies.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Proven experience of teaching BSL to mixed‑ability groups of adults, including Deaf and hearing adult learners.
