Do you have experience supporting children with behavioural challenges on a 1:1 basis within a primary school?

Are you a calm, resilient, and compassionate individual with excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to support pupils with emotional regulation?

If you answered YES, then this Behaviour Teaching Assistant role could be the perfect opportunity for you!

The Position
- Behaviour Teaching Assistant

A welcoming and supportive primary school in Lewisham is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a full-time position supporting a boy on a 1:1 basis who presents with behavioural challenges and requires consistent support throughout the school day.

As the Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider pastoral team to help the pupil access learning while developing emotional regulation strategies and positive coping mechanisms. You will build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil, using positive behaviour techniques to encourage engagement, improve social interactions, and reduce incidents of dysregulation. You should have previous experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs and be able to de-escalate situations effectively.

There may be occasions where physical intervention is required in line with the school's behaviour policy, so experience with Team Teach, positive handling, or restraint techniques would be advantageous but is not essential.

The School

This friendly primary school in Lewisham is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every child is supported to achieve their full potential. The school has a strong pastoral ethos and works collaboratively to ensure pupils receive the academic, emotional, and behavioural support they need to succeed.

Benefits
  • Staff benefit from ongoing training, supportive leadership, and excellent opportunities for professional development.
