IUSCA

IQF Classification

This role appears to align with IQF Level 7, as it involves advanced scientific practitioner capability within an elite first-team professional football environment. The role requires interpretation of complex athlete monitoring and performance data, integration of GPS, gym-based testing, subjective and objective readiness measures, training load, fatigue, wellness, recovery, and return-to-performance information. It also requires communication of complex data to coaches, medical staff, and players, alongside practical influence on training prescription, interdisciplinary planning, injury risk reduction, and performance decision-making.

Although the role does not appear to include primary departmental leadership, the level of expertise, complexity, autonomy, professional judgement, and master’s-level requirement indicate advanced practice beyond a standard Level 6 practitioner role.

Salary and Role Alignment

Grey. Salary is not disclosed, so full salary and role alignment cannot be assessed. However, this role carries substantial advanced practitioner responsibility within a Premier League first-team environment, including master’s-level essential qualification requirements, extensive elite sport experience, advanced athlete monitoring, data analysis, interdisciplinary communication, return-to-performance support, travel, unsociable hours, and influence on training and performance decision-making.

IUSCA recommended minimum salary: £60,000 per year

This minimum recommendation reflects the Level 7 classification, the essential MSc requirement, the elite first-team context, the level of complexity, and the expectation that the practitioner can interpret and communicate advanced performance data to influence coaching, medical, and player decision-making. A higher salary may be appropriate if the role includes substantial responsibility for departmental systems, practitioner leadership, strategic planning, or first-team decision authority.
