KS1 Teaching Assistant – Enfield

Pay: £90–£100 per day
Teach Now is seeking a warm, organised and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant for a full-time position at a supportive primary school in Enfield.
You will help children make the important transition from early learning into the more structured KS1 curriculum. Your support will strengthen pupils’ phonics, early reading, writing and number skills while helping them develop confidence, independence and positive classroom habits.
The school would particularly welcome someone who understands that young children learn best through clear routines, encouragement, purposeful talk and carefully structured activities.
Your Role Will Include- Supporting the class teacher during lessons and activities
- Delivering phonics practice and early-reading interventions
- Listening to pupils read and recording their progress
- Supporting early writing, handwriting and number work
- Preparing practical resources and learning areas
- Helping pupils follow routines and manage transitions
- Providing additional support for children with SEND or communication needs
- Encouraging positive behaviour, independence and cooperation
- Supervising children safely during different parts of the school day
- Sharing observations with the teacher and SENCO
- Experience working with children in EYFS or KS1
- A basic understanding of systematic synthetic phonics
- Strong spoken English and clear communication
- Patience, creativity and a nurturing approach
- The ability to engage young children while maintaining clear expectations
- Confidence supporting early literacy and numeracy
- Reliable attendance, punctuality and professional conduct
- The right to work in the UK
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
- Two satisfactory professional references
- A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning, childcare or early years would be desirable. Experience with speech-and-language needs or programmes such as Read Write Inc. would also be useful.
