A caring and inclusive Catholic primary school in Wandsworth is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join its team on a full-time basis from September 2026.

About the role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to support pupils with a range of additional needs. The role may involve providing 1:1 support, leading small-group interventions, and adapting learning activities to help pupils fully access the curriculum.

The successful candidate will be patient, proactive, and committed to creating a positive learning experience where every child feels safe, supported, and confident.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support for pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions
  • Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
  • Adapt classroom activities to meet individual learning needs
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo, parents, and external professionals
  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Special Needs Teaching Assistant you will:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND is essential
  • Experience with in a UK primary school is highly desirable
  • Understanding of a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

  • SEN Experience
