About us:
The Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES) is a vibrant faculty with a long tradition of world-leading research and teaching in physics, mathematics, chemistry, informatics and engineering. We deliver a wide-ranging portfolio of undergraduate and masters degrees, to around 4,500 students. King’s Interdisciplinary Science is based in the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences, it delivers interdisciplinary programmes including the flagship Natural Sciences programmes and a new campus-based MSc.
This is a key part of the King’s Interdisciplinary Science investment and brings together staff from across several faculties to deliver innovative new programmes.
About the role:
The post is a new role that will work as part of a team, leading on ensuring consistent management and delivery of the new online MSc Applied AI. The programme is due for launch in January 2027 and is delivered with King’s Digital. The Programmes Manager will establish ways of working for this new programme, across organisational boundaries.
They will provide high quality and effective administrative support, in accordance with university and faculty priorities, timelines and policies. You will be responsible for allocating resource to ensure consistent and effective service delivery to staff and students. There will also be opportunities to represent the faculty in wider university activities and committees, in support of the faculty’s interests, and to work collaboratively with university functions.
You will also ensure that staff are aware of their purpose and are engaging with a shared vision for the university and the faculty. Successful candidates will have a proactive approach to leadership and management. They will have experience of complex administration, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to work with and communicate to a wide range of stakeholders.
This is a hybrid role; the role holder will spend a minimum of two days per working week on campus. The role-holder will be expected to attend campus more regularly during periods of peak annual activity and to meet business needs.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week) and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
Excellent communication skills, including ability to draft documents and correspondence, lead and contribute to meetings with a range of stakeholders Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and delegate tasks appropriately and work to tight deadlines Strong numeracy skills and ability to extract, analyse and present complex numerical data Effective, data driven decision-making ability, and able to exercise independent judgement
Experience of leading a team of staff, and experience of managing change, setting standards and developing high performing teams with a development focused and proactive style.
Experience of addressing complaints and service setbacks in a professional and efficient manner
Experience of stakeholder management, and ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders in a professional and assured manner – to understand their needs and facilitate discussion. Strong commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace through inclusive management practices
Desirable criteria
Degree level or equivalent qualification or experience
Experience of having a longer-term view of service provision, and the ability to plan for both the immediate future and the longer term where developments may be in progress
Experience of using virtual learning to improve the education experience of staff and students Experience in the use of databases such as student records systems (e.g. SITS) to provide management information data to a high level of detail and accuracy Strong understanding of user-focused, end-to-end service ethos and familiarity with frameworks for effective delivery Downloading a copy of our
