Learning Support Assistants
on behalf of several colleges and sixth forms across West London.
These are ongoing temporary opportunities for individuals passionate about supporting students with additional learning needs and helping them achieve their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students in classroom settings across a range of subjects and levels.
- Assist students with learning difficulties, disabilities, and additional support needs to access the curriculum effectively.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and active participation in learning activities.
- Monitor and record student progress, attendance, and the effectiveness of support provided.
- Support students' emotional, social, and pastoral needs while promoting positive behaviour.
- Work closely with lecturers and support staff to implement learning strategies and reasonable adjustments.
- Reinforce learning by helping students practise and develop skills taught during lessons.
- Accompany students on educational visits and support participation in college activities where required.
- Previous experience supporting students in an educational, SEND, or learning support environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and internet research.
- Understanding of safeguarding, Prevent, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Commitment to supporting students with disabilities and learning difficulties.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development.
- Literacy and Numeracy qualifications at Level 2 or above (or willingness to work towards them).
- Experience in learning support or working with young people with learning disabilities.
- Experience with in an educational environment providing academic or personal care support.
- Willingness to provide personal care support to individuals with high needs.
- Right to Work & Enhanced Adult/Child DBS dated within the last three months or on the update service.
- Relevant qualifications in education or support work.
- Literacy and Numeracy qualification at Level 2 or above is desirable.
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students.
