Mental Health Assistant

Reports to: SENDCo / Inclusion Manager

To provide emotional, behavioural and learning support to students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, enabling them to access education, improve wellbeing and achieve positive outcomes.

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with identified mental health and emotional wellbeing needs.
• Support students to develop emotional regulation, resilience and positive coping strategies.
• Work alongside teachers to help students engage in learning and achieve their potential.
• Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of interventions.
• Liaise with teaching staff, parents/carers and external professionals as appropriate.
• Follow all school safeguarding, child protection and confidentiality procedures.
• Attend relevant meetings and participate in training and professional development.
