Behaviour Support Officer | Redbridge

Are you a graduate with previous experience working in schools, looking to make a genuine difference to young people's lives? An Outstanding 11–18 secondary school in Redbridge is seeking a committed Behaviour Support Officer to join their team on a permanent basis from September 2026.

This Behaviour Support Officer role is ideal for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Teachers, Youth Workers or Behaviour Specialists looking to gain invaluable experience within an outstanding secondary setting. The successful candidate will be paid on the Outer London Unqualified Teacher Pay Scale.

As a Behaviour Support Officer, you will play a key role in improving students' behaviour, achievement and self-esteem by delivering targeted pastoral and behaviour interventions. Working alongside teachers, pastoral leaders and families, you will help students overcome barriers to learning, promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.

You will draw upon your understanding of child development and the impact of home and school factors on students' motivation, attitudes and performance. You may also provide emergency classroom cover for teaching staff when required, ensuring learning continues with minimal disruption.

Behaviour Support Officer –

Person Specification:
  • 2:1 or First-Class degree from a UK university
  • Previous experience working in a secondary school or with young people is essential
  • Excellent communication, organisation and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues
  • Resilient, proactive and passionate about improving student outcomes
  • Aspirations to build a long-term career within education
